Where Venetian plaster develops rich texture and visible layering, marmorino is worked to a smoother, denser surface — its finely ground marble dust creating a finish that suggests polished stone while remaining distinctly hand-crafted. The name comes from the Italian word for marble — marmo — and the material traces its lineage to the great Renaissance plastering traditions of Venice and Florence. The same slaked lime and marble dust mixture that finished the interiors of Italian palaces is what we apply to the walls of Los Angeles homes today. The technique has not changed. LA Microcement (CA Lic. #1092421) installs authentic marmorino throughout Los Angeles. We work with a range of colors from brilliant whites and warm creams through cool greys and dramatic deep tones, with custom color mixing available. All marmorino is a dry-area finish — for wet areas including showers and bathroom walls, we recommend tadelakt or microcement.

2–3 coats applied with a fine steel trowel, each polished while partially set. The smoothness develops through this polishing process — not speed, but skill.
Final burnishing brings up the subtle characteristic sheen. Optional wax finish for added depth and protection. Cleanup and handover.
